Vivien D'Andrea, MD, FACP

Dr. Vivien D’Andrea is a practicing physician in Internal Medicine at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, part of the Sutter Health system with multiple clinics and hospitals in Northern California.  

 

For the past three decades she has been a full-time physician and active at many levels of administration. She was Chief of Medicine both for her group practice as well as at her local hospital where she also worked as a hospitalist. She was elected Chief of Staff at El Camino Hospital in 2012, a six-year post. 

 

As Chair of her clinic’s Medical Education Committee for 25 years, she was instrumental in creating educational “boot camps” for her colleagues. She was co-chair of the Quality Committee at her clinic for many years, helping improve patient care through measurement and education. She is currently involved in mentoring new physicians at her multispecialty practice and is a member of the Health and Wellbeing Committee. 

 

She earned her BA in psychobiology at the University of California, San Diego and her MD at the University of California, San Francisco where she was nominated for the prestigious Gold Headed Cane award on graduation.  

 

After internal medicine residency at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, she was asked to stay on for a year as Chief Resident, helping guide and train other residents. She was admitted as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 1992. She enjoys teaching and is on the Adjunct Clinical Faculty at Stanford University Medical School helping train medical students.   

 

Active in community volunteering for years, she recently joined the Los Altos Rotary Club where she met Dr. Jack Higgins. She was impressed by his vision and plans for improving global health care and joined the board of Global Telehealth Network in 2023.
